AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's golf team will travel to Tempe, Arizona to compete in the Thunderbird Invitational Tournament, April 2-3.
The Cyclones are coming off one of their best performances in school history with a team victory at the Desert Shootout. ISU fired a school-record 823 for the tournament, shattering the previous record of 837. Four Cyclones finished in the top-15¬ in the record-setting performance.
Sophomore
Denzel Ieremia led the Cyclones at the Desert Shootout by tying for third place. He carded a career-best 203, which tied for the second-best all-time 54-hole score in school history.
Junior
Ruben Sondjaja also had a top-10 finish at the Desert Shootout by tallying a career-best 54-hole 205 tally. Junior
Nick Voke notched his 12th career top-10 finish at the Desert Shootout. Voke leads the team in stroke average (71.46) and is ranked 88th nationally according to Golfweek.
The field at the Thunderbird Invite features three teams ranked in the nation's top-20 according to Golfweek's latest poll (No. 15 Arizona State, No. 19 California, No. 20 San Diego State).
Competition will begin on Saturday with 36 holes beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
