AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's golf team signed two players to national letters of intent for its class of 2018, Iowa State head coach Andrew Tank announced today.
Bryce Hammer and Jackson Kalz will both enroll at Iowa State in the fall of 2018.
"I am excited to welcome Bryce and Jackson the Cyclone Golf Family," Tank said. "I look forward to helping them grow and develop as players during their time in Ames. They will be excellent representatives of Iowa State University and will help to take the program to the next level."
Hammer is one of the top prep golfers in South Dakota.
The Sioux Falls, S.D., native helped his team win a pair of state titles (2015, 2017), finishing runner-up medalist in 2016 and fifth in 2017.
Hammer won the 2016 South Dakota Junior Championship and placed sixth at the 2017 Midwest Junior Championship in 2017.
He recorded five Top-10s and three Top-3 finishes on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit and is ranked 161 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
Hammer is a member of The Country Club of Sioux Falls and is coached by Todd Kolb.
Kalz, one of the top junior golfers in Australia, is ranked 10th in the Australian Boys Junior rankings.
The Adelaide, South Australia native won the Victorian Junior Masters in 2017 and placed fourth at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships in 2017.
Selected to captain the South Australian Junior State Team, Kalz won the 2017 Boys Vardon Trophy with a scoring average of 71.89.
Kalz is a member of Glenelg Golf Club and is coached by Adrian Wickstein.
