ISU Tied For Fifth After Day One At Prestige At PGA West

LA QUINTA, Calif.—The Iowa State men's golf team currently sits in a tie for fifth at the Prestige at PGA West after a first-round 288 this afternoon.
Pepperdine and Stanford are currently in a tie for the first round lead (281) in a field consisting of seven teams currently ranked in the Golfstat top-50.
Seniors Ruben Sondjaja and Nick Voke are in the hunt for medalist honors after recording a pair of 69s in the opening round. The duo sit in a tie for fifth place.
Sondjaja's sixth sub-70 round of the season featured a pair of birdies and 16 pars. Voke began the round with a double-bogey, but bounced back with five birdies, including the last two holes.
Freshman Sam Vincent is sitting in a tie for 30th after carding a 73.
The second round begins tomorrow morning and will conclude with the final 18 holes on Wednesday.
