HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Iowa State men's golf team finished ninth at the Big 12 Championships with a 72-hole 1221 total.
Cold temperatures and high winds caused scores to rise in the final round this morning, as the Cyclones carded a final-round 315.
Texas was crowned the champion at 1168, edging Oklahoma State by a stroke.
Cyclone senior Nick Voke narrowly missed a fourth-straight top-10 performance at the Big 12 Championships by tying for 13th at 296. He was only one stroke away from a top-10 finish.
Voke battled the rough conditions today to fire a 74. He was 6-over after 11 holes, but finished strong by going 2-under in the last seven holes.
Ruben Sondjaja carded a 77 today to finish the tournament in a tie for 23rd at 300.
Iowa State is in solid shape to make its fourth NCAA Regional appearance in the last six seasons. The NCAA will announce the selections on Thursday, May 4 on the Golf Channel.
