AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team will look to build some momentum heading into their spring season after a solid fall outing. The Cyclones were able to record two top-five finishes – third place at the Northern Intercollegiate; fourth place finish at the Windon Memorial.
Redshirt senior Denzel Ieremia heads into his final season as the leader for the Cyclones. He finished the fall with three top-10 finishes and led the team in stroke average at 71.33. Ieremia also leads all current Cyclones in career top-10 performances (9) and sub-70 rounds (18).
The breakout star for the Cyclones in the fall was freshman Lachlan Barker. Barker was able to record two top-10 showings, which included a tie for third at the Windon Memorial. Barker was also second on the team in stroke average at 71.67, which is on pace to break the rookie scoring mark.
Heading into the spring season, Ieremia is ranked No. 115 and Barker is at No. 153 in the Golfweek national individual rankings.
Iowa State returns to play Jan. 29-30 at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson.Â
