TUCSON, Ariz. – The Iowa State men's golf team is tied for fifth place after carding a 281 in round one at the National Invitation Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.
Second round play was suspended due to darkness. Teams will finish their remaining holes of round two and play the third and final round tomorrow.
Arizona State is leading the pack at 267.
ISU got off to a fast start thanks to the outstanding play of sophomore Tripp Kinney. Kinney fired a career-low 66 in the first round, boasting a card that featured four birdies, an eagle and no bogies.
Kinney was in third place at the end of the first round.
Denzel Ieremia was tied for 21st with a 2-under 70 and Lachlan Barker is tied for 39th after posting a 72.
