TULSA, Oklahoma – Iowa State's track and field teams added six more wins to its weekend collection at the Tulsa Duels on Saturday. The Cyclones left Oklahoma with eight event wins on the weekend, counting Friday's hammer throw sweep.
In her Iowa State debut in the discus, Essence Henderson picked up the win with a best throw of 162-2 (49.43m). She moved to No. 5 in ISU history in the event. Another freshman, Jalaiya Bartley, also posted an all-time top-five mark in the triple jump, with her second-place leap of 39-6 1/2 (12.05m).
Other winners for the Cyclone women included Megan Schott in the 1,500-meter run (4:40.41), who led an ISU 1-2 with Abby Caldwell (4:42.24) and Keiara Williams in the shot put (44-2 1/2).
The wins by the Cyclone men was highlighted by Eric Fogltanz's victory in the 400-meter hurdles. A Division III All-American in the 400 hurdles in 2016, Fogltanz suffered an injury in the 2017 indoor season that saw him miss all the outdoor season last year. Fogltanz's winning time was 52.49.
Other ISU men's winners included Roshon Roomes in the 400-meter dash (47.87) and Jalen Ford in the high jump (6-11 3/4). Both led ISU 1-2s in their events with Jaymes Dennison taking second in the 400 (47.98) and Cody Durbin going second in the high jump (6-7).
