AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's golf team completed the fall season at the Big 12 Match Play Event on Oct. 13. The Cyclones' low 54-hole team score (866) and low 18-hole team tally (282) occurred at the Fighting Irish Classic.
Senior Tripp Kinney finished an impressive fall season by leading the team in stroke average (71.00), rounds below par (5), top-10 finishes (2) and birdies (29). The All-American from Waukee, Iowa is on pace to break the single-season stroke average (71.08) he set last season. Kinney carded season-lows for 18 holes with a pair of 68s and posted a season-low 206 at the Badger invitational (T3rd).
Kinney finished the fall campaign ranked No. 124 nationally by Golfweek.
Junior Lachlan Barker was second on the team in stroke average (72.44) and tied for third in birdies (24). He had a pair of 69s and went 2-2-1 at the Big 12 Match Play Event, helping Iowa State defeat TCU in the team's second match.
Junior Frank Lindwall competed in every event, compiling a stroke average of (74.33) to rank third on the team. He had 24 birdies and a season-low 69 at the Fighting Irish Classic. Lindwall did not drop a match at the Big 12 Match Play Event, winning two matches and halving three (2-0-3).
Iowa State begins the spring season in Tucson, Ariz., Jan. 27-28 at the Arizona Intercollegiate.
