AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (12-7, 4-2 Big 12) took the victory over Oklahoma (11-7, 1-5 Big 12) in four sets (22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-21) on Saturday night. Iowa State outhit Oklahoma .265-.154 and totaled 11 blocks to hand the Sooners just their second loss of the season at home.
Three Cyclones extended their 10-plus kill match streak in the victory. Solei Thomas performed to her third-straight match, leading both teams with 16. Holthaus totaled 12 for her sixth-straight and Duckworth recorded her second-consecutive.
Duckworth put up her second-straight double-double, adding 11 digs. The freshman's final stat line included 10 kills, 11 digs and two blocks.
Alexis Engelbrecht led the ISU block, totaling two solo and five block assists. Two solo blocks ties the senior's career high. Annie Hatch followed with four blocks as she also sent over nine kills.
SET ONE
Iowa State converted four of the first six attempts for kills to go onto lead Oklahoma 5-2. The Sooners tied it up and kept even action as the score advantage remained within two. Engelbrecht's first kill of the match went down as her 200th career kill while OU led 17-15. Holthaus then hit her sixth kill on seven swings to tie it back up at 18. Oklahoma took the next three points before ISU fired back to come within one at 22-21 as OU called a timeout. The Sooners went ahead 25-22 to take the set, outhitting ISU .333-.242.
SET TWO
Oklahoma outscored Iowa State 7-2 to start the frame before Duckworth and Engelbrecht slammed down back-to-back kills. OU then ended a 5-0 scoring run on a service error while the Cyclones brought it back within four at 15-11 on Thomas' sixth kill. Thomas kept it rolling as she hit two more while the Cyclones knotted up the set at 19 on a block by Hatch and Engelbrecht. Blockers put up seven in the set as ISU went ahead 25-22 to tie up the match.
SET THREE
A Hatch kill put the score at 6-6 to build momentum as the Cyclones built a lead to 15-9 while Thomas hit double-figure kills. Engelbrecht capped a rally with the kill to put the Cyclones at 23-15. The lead held throughout to put Iowa State ahead in the match with a set score of 25-15. ISU outhit OU .419-.242 in the frame.
SET FOUR
The Sooners held the advantage to begin the set while the Cyclones pushed forward, going ahead on a Duckworth kill at 14-13. Shannon served her second ace to make the score 18-16 in ISU's favor while the Cyclones were the first to 20 points. A Kelsey Perry kill brought Iowa State to match point and Duckworth's 10th kill sealed the victory by a set score of 25-21.

Next week, Iowa State returns home Wednesday, Oct. 19 to take on Texas at 6:30 p.m. Promotions include $3 reserved tickets and the first 250 students will be given an Iowa State fanny pack.
