Cyclones Ready for U.S., Canadian Championships

AMES, Iowa – It is a big weekend of National Championships for both current and former members of the Iowa State Track and Field program, with the focus heading towards Cascadia for the 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon and the 2022 Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships in Langley, British Columbia.
In Eugene, the current Cyclones will be represented by First Team All-Americans Jason Gomez in the men's 800-meter run and Emily March in the women's discus, with former Cyclones Hillary Bor (men's 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m), Daniel Nixon (men's 800-meter run) and Vlad Pavlenko (men's hammer throw) also slated to compete.
North of the border, the Cyclones will have their women's hurdle starts in action, as Kaylyn Hall and Katarina Vlahovic are both entered to compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles, and are both among the top-four seeds.
Each country is allowed three entries into the IAAF World Championships, which will be in July in Oregon. However, athletes must have attained the World Championships standard in order to be eligible. Bor has achieved both in the 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m run.
