AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State swimming and diving team (3-1, 0-0 Big 12) will host their first double dual of the season against Big 12 foe West Virginia (3-2, 0-0 Big 12) and UNI (12-2, 1-0 MVC) on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Beyer Pool. Senior Day will also take place on Saturday and seniors will be honored prior to competition at 10:45 a.m.
THE OPPONENT- West Virginia
Last season's, Iowa State got a 198-101 victory against West Virginia. WVU's most recent dual saw the Mountaineers lose the Backyard Brawl against Pitt by a 66-point margin.
THE OPPONENT- UNI
Iowa State holds an overall record against the Panthers of 34-1. The Cyclones and the Panthers first met this season in November for the Kansas Classic where Iowa State topped five teams, including UNI. UNI placed in 4th out of the five teams.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR- Freestyle Events
Last dual meet's 1000 free event saw the Cyclones claim a top-three standing with Brinley Horras' win recording the second fastest time in school history with 10:01.95 and Madison Rundell in third place with 10:10.25, earning a spot on the top-performances list. Horras earned another victory in the 500 free and Carley Caughron won the 50 free, recording a new personal best while taking the No. 9 spot on the all-time top-performances list. Caughron placed second in the 100 free and Ashley Bengtson secured second place in the 200 free.
ON DECK- TCU and North Texas
The Cyclones will travel to Fort Worth, Texas for a match-up against TCU on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. Following the meet, Iowa State will take on North Texas at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28 in Denton, Texas.
