AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State men's golf team opens their spring season in Tucson, Ariz. for the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate. This two-day tournament will consist of 36-holes on Monday, Jan. 30 with the final 18-holes to follow on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The Notes:
- Last season, the Cyclones placed in a tie for seventh at the Arizona Intercollegiate with a final tally of 859 (285-287-287). Former Cyclone, Josh Hetherington was the team's leader with rounds of 72, 69 and 70. Luke Gutschewski placed in a tie for 34th with a final score of 216 (71-75-70).
- In the fall, Luke Gutschewski earned individual medalist honors at the Marquette Intercollegiate after firing a career-low 204 that included a season-low 65 in the opening round of the tournament.
- Gutschewski ended his fall campaign with a 69.00 scoring average with six rounds in the 60s. Lukas Pany was second on the team in scoring with a 72.16 average. Pany's best finish came at the Minnesota Golf Classic where he finished in a tie for third.
- Nate Vance and Paul Beauvy both concluded their fall season with sub-72.50 scoring averages. Vance recorded his first Top-10 of his Iowa State career and Beauvy tied the sixth lowest 18-hole score in school history with a 65 in the final round of the Zach Johnson Invitational.
