Cyclones Conclude Second Day of Big 12 Match Play

HOCKLEY, Texas - The Cyclones conclude the second day of Big 12 Match Play after playing 14th-seeded UCF and seventh-seeded BYU. The Cyclones are 1-3 in the tournament and went 1-1 on the day.

Luke Gutschewski defeated UCF's Grant Ebbert with a score of 1UP. Gutschewski won one of the last three holes and tied the other two to claim the win.

Owen Sawyer won his watch 2&1 against Gustav Andersson from UCF. This advanced Sawyer to a tournament score of 3-0.

Dianchao Wu won his match against UCF's Hans Risvaer with a score of 4&3.

Zach May tied his opponent, Nicholas Estrada from UCF. The match went back and forth through all holes.

Paul Beauvy also competed, but was defeated by Egor Eroshenko with a score of 1UP.

The Cyclones played BYU in the afternoon. BYU won with a score of 4-1-0.

Wu was the lone victor for the Cyclones in the second round of day two. Wu defeated Zac Jones with a score of 2UP. Wu won three rounds in a row to claim the win.

Beauvy, Gutschewski, May and Sawyer were the other second round competitors.

The Cyclones will begin the last day of Big 12 Match Play Wednesday, Oct. 11.
