BLUFFTON, S.C. - The Iowa State men's golf team concluded the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate, held at the Colleton River Club, in a three-way tie for eighth place with Indiana University and No. 28 Ohio State University. The team finished with a 20-under-par total in the 12 team field and grabbed a Top-25 win over No. 25 Cincinnati.Â
The Cyclones posted the 13th lowest 54-hole team score in program history with an 844 (288-268-288) tally. During the second round of the tournament, Iowa State fired the second-lowest 18-hole team total with a 20-under 268. This total was just five shots off of the school record set back in 2017 at the NCAA Austin Regional where the team carded a 263.Â
Luke Gutschewski led the Cyclones this week and recorded his third top-10 finish of the season. Gutschewski's best round came at the end of the 36-hole day where he fired an eight-under round of 64 that included five birdies and two eagles. Gutschewski concluded the week in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings with a nine-under total.
Lukas Pany also earned his third top-10 finish of the year after posting a 208 (68-70-70) three-round total. Pany placed in a tie for eighth overall and knocked in 11 birdies to only three bogeys on the week. Pany's lowest score came in the first round where he carded a bogey-free 68 to lead the team.Â
Paul Beauvy placed in a tie for 30th in the individual standings and finished with a 212 (75-65-72) 54-hole total. Beauvy tied his career-low 18-hole score with a seven-under 65 in the second round of the tournament. Beauvy's bogey-free round of 65 included seven birdies and helped the team card the 268 team total.Â
Nate Vance came in fourth on the team in scoring with a 217 three-round total that included rounds of 72, 69 and 76. The senior recorded his third round under 70 this season after posting a three-under 69 in the second round. Vance finished in a tie for 53rd place in the individual standings.
