Gutschewski Tied for 12th after Opening Round of NCAA Norman Regional

NORMAN, Okla. - Iowa State sophomore Luke Gutschewski opened and closed the first round of the NCAA Norman Regional with a birdie, as Gutschewski sits in a tie for 12th after the opening round.
Gutschewski was one-under par on both the front nine and the back nine, finishing with a 70 on the day. In addition to birdies on the first and 18th holes, Gutschewski added birdies on the fifth and 12th holes. Gutschewski was one of just eight players in the field of 75 to have a birdie or better on the par three 12th hole.Â
Alabama's Nick Dunlap and Oklahoma's Drew Goodman sit atop the leaderboard after the opening round, as they each fired a six-under par 66. Texas Tech leads the team race at -10 after the first round, while Oklahoma is just a stroke behind.
Gutschewski will tee off at 10:34 a.m. Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Norman Regional. The regional is being played at the OU Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
