Cyclones Lead Iowa Fall Classic After Opening Day

RIVERSIDE, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team opened the season Tuesday at the Iowa Fall Classic, taking the team lead after the first two rounds with a score of 560.Â
Luke Gutschewski leads the Cyclones at eight-under-par and in second place. Gutschewski finishes opening day with two eagles and 10 birdies.Â
Paul Beauvy and Zach May carded a pair of 140s through the first two rounds to tie for fifth, including a career-best 68 in the first round. May had 12 birdies on the day, the most in the field, while Beauvy had eight.
Owen Sawyer had a total score of 150 following the first two rounds, placing him in a tie for 42nd.Â
Freshman Dianchao Wu carded a first round 73 and second round 72 for a total score of 145, landing him in a tie for 17th.Â
Nippit Klinsrisuk participated as an individual and carded a first round 76. Following his second round, Klinsrisuk sits tied for 63rd.
The final round of the Iowa Fall Classic will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Sept. 6.Â
