AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men's golf head coach Andrew Tank has announced the signing of Julian Geerebaert and Jesse Trembath. The pair will join the Cyclones for the 2025-26 season.
"This duo is talented and well-coached," Tank said. "They both have the character traits we believe are crucial for success at Iowa State. I couldn't be more excited to officially welcome Julian and Jesse to our program."
Geerebaert, a native of Knokke-Heist, Belgium, currently attends St. Leonards High School in St. Andrews, Scotland. In the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Geerebaert is the fifth-best player from Belgium. Geerebaert has been a part of the Belgium National Team since the age of 10. He has 11 top-10 finishes and three wins on his resume, including victories at the Junior Federal Tour U18 Limburg, King's Prize and the SGF Fairmount Boys Open at St. Andrews. Geerebaert has finished in the Top 50 at the Belgian International Amateur Championship in back-to-back years, while also turning in a Top 50 finish at The Iron Duke Belgian Open.
"I chose Iowa State because the environment and the culture encourage me to become my very best," Geerebaert said. "I am looking forward to being part of the team and making lifelong friends."
A native of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Trembath attends Emmanuel College. He is ranked the 59th best amateur in Australia on the WAGR Rankings. Trembath picked up wins at the Victorian Junior Amateur and Victorian Junior Masters. Trembath was a runner-up at the Portsea Open Amateur, finished Top 5 at the 2024 Mandurah Open Amateur and placed ninth at the 2024 Australian Junior Amateur. He has also competed at the VIC Open and the Gippsland Super 6. Trembath shot a school record scoring average of 69.3 from 2022-24 and received Principal's List and Academic Excellence awards in high school (2019-22).
"I chose to be an Iowa State Cyclone as I was really impressed by the attitude and plan that the team has for the future and really loved the underdog mentality the team has embraced," Trembath stated. "I'm looking forward to getting amongst the guys, training and developing alongside like-minded players and having some fun."
The Iowa State men's golf team returns to action in February, competing in the N.I.T in Tucson, Ariz., Feb. 3-4.
