AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State swimming and diving team (3-6, 0-3 Big 12) travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, to compete in the 2024 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships scheduled from Feb. 27-March 2. The Cyclones bring veteran experience to this year's championships with 21 All-Big 12 honorees and 47 all-time top-20 individual performances across all events. Â

The competition starts at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday with time trials and finals at 5 p.m. ET. Wednesday through Saturday has preliminary action starting at 10 a.m. ET and finals begin at 6 p.m. ET, except for the diving preliminaries beginning at 9:15 a.m. ET on Thursday and Saturday morning. All preliminary and finals events will be broadcast through Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Â

ON THE BLOCKSÂ

In swimming, seven new all-time top 20 performances were recorded in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 back, 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM, respectively. Â

Senior Brinley Horras leads all Iowa State swimmers in points as the freestyle swimmer looks to create new records in Morgantown. Horras is one point away from breaking into the top 20 all-time Big 12 Championships points leaders in Iowa State history. Horras will also have opportunities to join the all-time senior season points leaders and improve her ranking on the all-time points leaderboard, where she currently stands at No. 16. Â

Emma Kuhn has had a strong freshman campaign where she leads all Cyclones swimmers in the 100 back and 200 IM at final times. Kuhn's best 200 IM time of 2:03.55 at the Hawkeye Invite put her as the No. 5 freshman time in program history in the event. Kuhn will have multiple chances at the Big 12 Championships to set new records in the IM, back, and fly events. Â

Andie Quirke will be one to watch in the sprint freestyle events after finishes in the 50 free (23.24) and 100 free (50.90) led all Cyclones in both events and earned her spots on the all-time top performers list. Â

ON THE BOARDSÂ Â

The 2023-24 season marks the seventh time in program history that four divers have earned trips to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Ally Blumenfeld, Joscelyn Farner, Lauren Kimball, and Kate Mitchell earned multiple zone diving cuts on both springboards. At the same time, Blumenfeld and Mitchell have also earned zone diving cuts on the platform this season. Â

Kimball has had a remarkable season for Iowa State, earning two top-10 scores in Iowa State program history on the 3-meter board in the Hawkeye Invite and against Iowa. Kimball secured the No. 7 spot on the all-time top performers list for a 305.77 score on the 1-meter board against Kansas. Â

Mitchell also earned all-time top performance spots with a 312.23 score on the 3-meter board and a 245.70 score on the platform against Kansas. Â
