AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team won three team titles during the 2023-24 season, the most in one year since winning three in 2016-17.Â
KEY STORYLINES
-The Cyclones picked up three wins on the year, taking home the titles at the Iowa Fall Classic, the Zach Johnson Invitational and the Tiger Collegiate Invitational. It was the first time since 2016-17 that ISU has won three events in the same season.
-Junior Luke Gutschewski qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships for the second-straight year, as he finished tied for 30th at the NCAA Austin Regional.
-Gutschewski is the 10th player in school history to qualify for a regional as an individual and he is the first to do so multiple times.
-On the Cyclones' all-time career stroke average list, Gutschewski sits on top with a 71.56 scoring average, while Paul Beauvy is fifth with a 72.1 average.Â
-Gutschewski's 70.86 stroke average was the second-best in school history, just behind his 70.78 from last season.
-ISU carded the lowest round score of all teams in the field at the Gopher Invitational (276) and at the Zach Johnson Invitational (272).
-Gutschewski won the Zach Johnson Invitational with a career three-round low (198) with all round scores in the 60s. Zach May (T3) and Beauvy (T9) both joining him in the top ten.
-Gutschewski broke the school record for lowest three-round score (198), joining Nick Voke (199 in 2017) as the only two Cyclones to score under 200 in three rounds.Â
-Owen Sawyer's 73.03 stroke average was the fifth-best in program history by a freshman.Â
