AMES, Iowa – Iowa State rising seniors Paul Beauvy and Zach May, along with rising junior Dianchao Wu, have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams. This is the second-straight year Beauvy and May have been named to the team, while Wu earns it for the first time.
Recognized as one of the top awards for student-athletes, the CSC Academic All-District Teams are awarded for combined performances in competition and in the classroom. Nominees must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically or athletically and have participated in at least 70 percent of the team competitions throughout the year.
Beauvy led the Cyclones in stroke average on the year at 70.91, the fourth sub-71 stroke average in school history. He enters his final season as a Cyclone with a 71.71 career stroke average, the second-best in program history. Beauvy qualified for the NCAA Regionals, where he finished in a tie for 11th at the NCAA Urbana Regional. He was the 11th player in program history to be selected for the NCAA Regional. Beauvy shot a career-best 201 at the N.I.T., bringing home the title with the third-lowest score in school history.
May was fourth on the team in stroke average at 73.25. He earned his first tournament win at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate, shooting a career-low 206 as well as tying the lowest round of his career (66) in the final round to help him finish 10-under par. May had a career-best three Top 10 finishes this season.
Wu finished the season with a 74.23 stroke average, the best of his career. He shot a season-low 69 four times, with three of the four coming in the final round of the tournament. Wu finished in a tie for 24th twice, doing so at the Bearcat Invitational and the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate.
