Cyclones Finish 13th at Shootout

RICHMOND, Va. ? Iowa State's Ross Menke, competing in his first tournament this season, tied his career best round by firing a 71 in the final 18 holes of the VCU Shootout, Tuesday in Richmond, Va. Iowa State finished in 13th place with a final score of 881.

Menke showed continuous improvement, shooting a three-round total of 221 (76-74-71) to tie for 47th. Joe Cermak led the way for the Cyclones, finishing in a tie for 26th with a 218 (73-71-74). Senior Chris Baker, coming off two stellar performances at the Big Four and Falcon Invite, shot a final round of 72 to bring his two-day total to 219 (73-74-72). Baker tied for 34^th in the tournament.

Cedric Bertin and Johnny Larson also competed for the Cyclones. Larson managed an eagle during the final round, finding the cup in three shots on the No. 5 par-5.

Penn State took home the team title with a score of 845, as Kevin Foley took home medalist honors with a three-round score of 201 (65-68-68).

The Cyclones will return to action in a week when they travel to Reno, Nev., for the Nevada Wolfpack Classic. ISU captured the Wolfpack Classic team title last season with Cermak and Baker each placing in the top 10 individually.
