Cyclones in 12th at Shocker Classic

WICHITA, Kan. ? The Iowa State men's golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of competition at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic hosted by Wichita State Monday. The Cyclones are facing several teams in their district and ended first-day action in a tie for 12th along with Stephen F. Austin. Texas-Arlington has an eight-shot lead over Kansas State and six individuals are tied for medalist honors.
Chris Baker and Joe Cermak, the junior tandem who recorded top-20 finishes in ISU's last event at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational, led the Cyclones again by finishing in a tie for 24th and 33rd, respectively. The pair had their best scores in the first round, posting a 73 and 74.
Senior Rodney Hamblin had a solid first two rounds, tying for 39th with a two-round total of 153.
Freshman Ross Menke saw his first action of the spring season as a starter as Johnny Larson competed individually. Cedric Bertin had a two-round score of 161 to round out the scoring.
Tomorrow's final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m shotgun start.
