NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Iowa State senior golfer Ben Herrera made a nice jump into a tie for 10th place after firing a second-round 68 this afternoon at the NCAA East Regional in New Haven, Conn.
Herrera, who was tied for 27th after the first round, used a 2-under 68 today to give him a two-round 139 total and put him into contention for the lone individual qualifier spot out of the regional. The low scorer among the individual qualifiers and those who do not qualify with their team will advance to the NCAA Championships, June 2-5 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The Urbandale, Iowa, native tees off at 8:50 a.m. tomorrow morning in the third and final round. To follow Herrera's round, go to Golfstat.com.
