Cyclones Tie For Eighth At VCU Shootout

RICHMOND, Va. – The Iowa State men's golf team tied for eighth at the Janney VCU Shootout with a two-round total of 574 (2-under).
The event was originally set to be a 54-hole tournament, but due to heavy rain on Monday afternoon, tournament officials decided to cut it down to 36 holes.
Virginia Tech claimed the tournament title after posting a two-round total of 548 (28-under).
For the second-straight tournament, Denzel Ieremia was the low finisher for the Cyclones by tying for fourth at 136 (67-69). Ieremia had only one blemish on his card today.
Ieremia now has four career top-10 performances and his first-round 67 tied for the team's lowest 18-hole score of the year.
Ruben Sondjaja tied for 14th after firing a 139 (70-69). His final-round 69 included an eagle. It was his second sub-70 round of the season and the 11th in his career.
The Cyclones were without the services of All-Big 12 golfer Nick Voke, who is currently competing in the World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico.
ISU will return to action on October 24 at the Pinetree Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga.
