AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field teams are back in action this weekend at the Stanford Invitational. Competition begins on Friday with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at 1 p.m. On Saturday, collegiate field events begin at noon, with track events starting at 3:30 p.m.

After taking last weekend off, Iowa State takes a squad of over 40 student-athletes out to California for the Stanford Invite. The meet at Cobb Track and Angell Field is the unofficial start of the outdoor distance running season, as many Iowa State distance runners are entered into events for the first time in 2017. They will face stiff competition from many of the top teams in the country, as well as professional athletes early in their seasons.

Among the teams scheduled to be at the meet are Arkansas, Boise State, BYU, Georgetown, Indiana, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Portland, Providence, hosts Stanford, Syracuse, Washington and Wisconsin.
