Iowa State Finishes Fourth At The Hootie Intercollegiate

AWENDAH, S.C. - The Iowa State men's golf team wrapped up play at the Hootie Intercollegiate tournament this afternoon with a fourth place finish in the 15-team field. Iowa State carded a final round score of 284 for a three-day total of 855.

Mississippi won the tournament at 841.

The Cyclones should make a move up the national rankings with their performance this week. ISU defeated five teams ranked in the current Golfweek top-50: No. 7 Auburn, No. 36 N.C. State, No. 38 Missouri, No. 41 South Carolina and No. 44 Louisville.

Iowa State had two players place in the top-10 individually, led by freshman Lachlan Barker, who tied for sixth place at 210 in the medalist race.

Barker, who recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season, shot a final-round 71 and was in the top-10 on the leaderboard for the entirety of the tournament.

Finishing just behind Barker in a tie for eighth place was senior Denzel Ieremia at 211. Ieremia posted a score of 71 this afternoon to give him his 11th career top-10 finish.

Sophomore Tripp Kinney finished tied for 22nd at 215.

The Cyclones will be back in action April 14-15 at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
