AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head men's golf coach Andrew Tank announced today that Nate Vance, who was an All-MVC selection in 2020 at Loyola (Chicago), has signed a financial aid agreement and will compete for the Cyclones beginning in the spring semester.
Vance is a sophomore and will have two and half seasons of eligibility remaining after transferring.
"We are excited to have Nate join our program," Tank said. "Nate is a talented player who is committed to improving. I'm very impressed by the improvement he's shown over the last two seasons."
A native of Marshalltown, Iowa, Vance broke Loyola's single-season stroke average record in 2019-20 at 72.2, the second-best scoring average in the league.
He posted four top-10 finishes and carded a season-low 68 at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in 2019-20.
Vance continued his outstanding play in the summer of 2020, winning the Waterloo Open by nine shots at 17-under and tallying top-10 finishes at the Iowa Masters (third) and Iowa Amateur (T10th).
Vance was the medalist at the 2017 Class 4A state meet, leading Marshalltown to the team championship.
