AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State track and field team will host the Iowa State Classic this weekend at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center. Competition on Harry Hoak Track will take place on Friday and Saturday. Friday events begin in the field at 1 p.m. and on-track at 4 p.m. Competition on Saturday starts at noon on the track, and at 1 p.m. with the lone field event of the day, the shot put.
Once again, to allow participants, officials and other essential personnel to properly distance and spread out, no spectators (including student-athlete guests) will be permitted at the Iowa State Classic this weekend. Live video of the running events will be provided by FloTrack on its subscription-based FloPro service, here. Live results will be provided by PrimeTime Timing, here.
All other info about the meet, including the schedule and heat sheets, in regards to the meet can be found here.
The No. 15 Iowa State men are back in track action after a week off. The highlight of the entries comes in Friday's men's 5,000-meter run with Wesley Kiptoo, fresh off his cross country win at the FSU Winter XC Classic last weekend, entered along with Iowa State star Edwin Kurgat (competing unattached). They are two of six Cyclones entered in the event, also to be joined by Chad Johnson, Jeffery Pedersen, David Too (unattached) and Nehemia Too.
More of ISU's unattached stars will be in action, whether that be competition or pacing with All-Americans Eric Fogltanz, Festus Lagat, Daniel Nixon, Vlad Pavlenko and Roshon Roomes all competing unattached in preparation for outdoor season next month.
For the Iowa State women, the sprints and hurdles group that had a strong weekend at the Doc Hale Elite Meet will be back in action. Katarina Vlahovic, fresh off her PR 8.27 in the 60m hurdles, is back again with teammates Kaylyn Hall and Tatiana Aholou. After a weekend off, ISU's throwers also get back into the ring, with Keiara Williams looking to continue her strong start to the season in the throws events.
