STANFORD, Calif. – Ruby Chou and Taglao Jeeravivitaporn made history at the NCAA Stanford Regional and are headed to Arizona after qualifying as individuals for the NCAA National Championship. This is the first time any Iowa State women's golf individual has qualified for the NCAA National Championship.
Chou was red-hot this week, totaling 13 birdies and breaking two school records. Her 211 was the lowest 54-hole total in an NCAA Regional in school history, as she finished seventh. Chou also broke the school's NCAA Regional 18-hole scoring record with a 68 in the first round.
Jeeravivitaporn earned her spot in the NCAA Championship after firing three-straight rounds of 71 to force a playoff. She knocked off Northwestern's Jieni Li on the second playoff hole for the final individual spot.
Jeeravivitaporn's 211 (71-71-71) was Iowa State's second-lowest 54-hole total in an NCAA Regional. She recorded 10 birdies and finished tied for 10th place in the medalist race.
Liyana Durisic carded a 224 (74-74-76) 54-hole total that included nine birdies. Durisic concluded the tournament tied for 45th place.
Warda Amira Rawof placed in a tie for 52nd and Charley Jacobs finished in 62nd place.
The NCAA Championship will be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Chou and Jeeravivitaporn will compete in the stroke play competition beginning on May 20th. The NCAA Individual Champion will be crowned on May 23rd.
