Joseph Resets School Record in Day One

AMES, Iowa – Rachel Joseph once again topped the program leaderboard while Sydney Willits grabbed an event title in the first day at the Tyson Invite while the distance squad notched numerous personal bests at the Husky Classic.
Joseph sprinted to 53.41 in the 400-meter dash to reset her school record and finalize 11th place in an elite field. The freshman topped her previous best of 53.74 set in December.
In the long jump, Sydney Willits broke the 20-foot barrier in four out of six rounds to leap to a new personal best of 20-3 3/4 (6.19m). Willits was the only competitor to jump over 20 feet to take the event title and move up a spot to No. 8 in indoor program history.
More personal bests were set in the men's 400-meter dash as Joven Nelson went sub-48 seconds for the first time in his career with 47.77. Freshman Gus Langford also grabbed a best mark of 48.68.
At the Husky Classic, Cailie Logue nearly broke nine minutes to improve her standing at No. 2 in program history with 9:00.75. Logue's new personal record placed her at seventh overall.
The women's distance squad kicked off the beginning heats of the 3,000-meter run all setting new personal records. Freshman Ashlyn Keeney ran to a dominant time of 9:26.63 for 32nd in a field of 106 runners. Madelynn Hill crossed the finish line moments after with 9:28.84 for 36th followed by Janette Schraft (9:32.33, 48th) and Taylor Briggs (9:36.66, 58th).
On the men's side, Chad Johnson clocked 7:50.96 in the 3,000-meter run to move up a spot to No. 4 in ISU history and place eighth overall. Titus Winders also hit an all-time mark with 7:54.91 to put him at eighth in the program ranks.
Brenna Cohoon and Kiki Connell followed that up with recording major time cuts off their best times. Cohoon cut 20 seconds off her indoor personal record with 16:25.18 and Connell nearly 50 seconds with 16:41.98.
The Tyson Invite and Husky Classic resume tomorrow.
