Cyclones Wrap Up Final Round At The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. - The Iowa State men's golf team tied with No. 28 LSU for 16th place in the 24-team field at The Prestige in Southern California. The Cyclones concluded the week with a 895 team total that included rounds of 291, 298 and a final round 306.Â
Leading the team with a 219 (68-75-76) three-round total was Luke Gutschewski. The sophomore recorded eight birdies during the 54-holes and a low round of 68 on day one of the tournament. Gutschewski finished his week in a tie for 29th place and defeated four golfers inside Golfstat's top-100 rankings.Â
Paul Beauvy claimed the second spot on the team in scoring after carding a 220 (70-73-77) 54-hole total. Beauvy led the team with 12 birdies and his best round of the week came on the first day where he knocked in five birdies to secure a one-under round of 70. The freshman placed in a tie for 32nd in the individual standings.Â
Coming in third on the team was senior Nate Vance who finished the week in a tie for 64th place. Vance recorded 10 birdies and an eagle on the 12th hole in round one. He posted a 226 three-round tally with back-to-back rounds of 75 coming in the first and second rounds of the tournament.Â
Lukas Pany and Hunter Johnson rounded out the team's top-five. Pany placed in a tie for 98th in the individual standings and Johnson finished 116th overall. Pany's best golf came during the second round where he recorded a four-over 75 along with three birdies.
The Cyclones will travel to Bluffton, S.C. for the Colleton River Collegiate the week of Mar. 6. The tournament will consist of 54-holes with 36 of them being played on the first day. The final 18-holes will follow on Tuesday Mar. 7.Â
