Iowa State Places Fourth In Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa State men's golf team placed fourth after the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational. The Cyclones posted an 855 (286-287-282) three-round total to finish at nine-under-par for the weekend.

Paul Beauvy's led the way for the Cyclones with his second top-five finish of the year. The freshman began the week with a three-under round of 69 and ended the tournament with seven birdies en route to a four-under 68.

Luke Gutschewski and Zach May finished tied for 16th place after carding 54-hole scores of 215. Gutschewski started with back-to-back rounds of 72 and finished with his 16th under-par round of the season. May knocked in 10 birdies and two eagles in his career-best finish.

Nate Vance placed in a tie for 20th after posting a 216 (73-72-71) three-round total. The senior concluded the weekend with a one-under round of 71. Vance recorded 12 birdies for the tournament and finished inside the top-20 for the second time this season.

Lukas Pany finished his tournament in a tie for 46th place. Pany carded a 223 (73-74-76) 54-hole total and made an eagle during his final round.

Hunter Johnson participated as an individual and placed 50th in the medalist race. The sophomore made seven birdies on the week and his first eagle of the year during his final round. Johnson posted a 224 (77-73-74) for a new career-best 54-hole tally.

Iowa State will transition into the postseason with the Big 12 Championship beginning on Monday, Apr. 24. The tournament will be held in Hutchinson, Kan., and will include three 18-hole days, with the final round concluding on Wednesday, Apr. 26.
