Iowa State Begins Outdoor Season at Tulsa Duels

AMES, Iowa – The 2018 outdoor track and field season opens up this weekend, with Iowa State making its yearly Spring Break trip to Oklahoma for the Tulsa Duels. Competition begins on Friday with field events starting at 1 p.m., the Hammer Throw will take place at East Central High School in Tulsa, while the javelin will be at Tulsa. Saturday sees field events begin at 10 a.m., with running events getting underway at 1 p.m.

There will be no live video or live results for the meet.

With the start of the outdoor season, there will be some new faces competing for the Cyclones as compared to the indoor season. The Cyclones have five student-athletes that are entered to make their 2018 debuts this weekend.

The Cyclone men have many strong entries to this weekend's competition, with 11 student-athletes who scored at the Big 12 Indoor Championships involved, led by double silver medalist Edwin Kurgat (1,500m run), silver medalist Jaymes Dennison (400m dash, 4x400m relay), bronze medalist Vlad Pavlenko (hammer throw) and bronze medalist Logan Schneider (110m hurdles).
