AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field team will be in competition at two sites this weekend. Meanwhile, a trio of ISU men will be headed up to Seattle for the UW Invitational for races on Saturday.
The Razorback Invitational's running events will be shown on SEC Network+ starting Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. At 1 p.m. on Saturday, the remaining coverage will shift to the SEC Network. Iowa State will see some top competition this weekend at Arkansas. There are four USTFCCCA Top-25 teams among the competitors this weekend, with all four of the ranked squads on the women's side in the top-10.
The Cyclones will see many of its top competitors in action this weekend. 2018 Big 12 Cross Country and Midwest Region champion Edwin Kurgat is entered to run in the 3,000-meter run this weekend. This would be Kurgat's first competition for the Cyclones since taking third place at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November. The Cyclone hurdlers have had a great start to their seasons, and are all entered to be in competition on Saturday afternoon.
The Cyclone men at Washington will be Dan Curts, Andrew Jordan and Festus Lagat. Curts and Jordan are entered in the 3,000m run. Curts has been building up to that distance, running the 1,000m two weeks ago and the mile last week. Jordan ran in the 3,000m at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational last weekend in Iowa City, finishing second in 8:04.25. Lagat will look to continue his momentum in the mile. Last weekend in Iowa City, Lagat went 4:01.36 to finish second and rank at No. 7 in ISU history for the event.
The Cyclone women have gotten off to a strong start and will look to continue that momentum at Arkansas. Among the highlighted entries for the Cyclone women includes Jasmine Staebler making her season debut at 800m, the distance which has seen her earn four All-America honors. She will be joined in the 800m invite by teammate Erinn Stenman-Fahey. The Cyclones will have a big contingent in the 3,000m invitational via Karly Ackley, Anne Frisbie, Cailie Logue, Kelly Naumann, Amanda Vestri and Gwynne Wright. In the 60m hurdles, Keira Christie-Galloway, Kaylyn Hall and Katarina Vlahovic all entered the ISU top-10 last weekend and will look to continue to improve.
