AMES, Iowa – The regular season is winding down, with the Cyclones taking in a pair of meets this Friday and Saturday. The vast majority of the squad will be in Lawrence for Kansas' Rock Chalk Classic, while a group of men's distance runners will take part in the Trials of Miles – Kansas City Qualifier in Leavenworth, Kansas on Saturday.
There will be no live video of the meet at Kansas, while live results will be provided by Prime Time timing, here. The Trials of Miles will be streamed on YouTube for free, here, while a live results link will be posted to the cyclones.com schedule when provided.
Iowa State will have its entire men's and women's sprints, jumps and hurdles group and throws group in action at Kansas this weekend. For ISU All-American Vlad Pavlenko, he will be in a strong men's hammer throw competition on Friday that includes Kansas NCAA Champion Gleb Dudarev and the North Dakota State squad.
The Cyclone men's middle distance group will also get a strong test at Kansas this weekend, with former Kansas NCAA Champions Bryce Hoppel and Texas Tech star Takieddine Hedeilli among the entries at 800m. Five Cyclones will be taking on Hoppel and Hedelli in the feature heat on Friday night at 7:15 p.m.
For the Iowa State women's distance crew, it will be a limited group after a busy weekend at the Drake Relays. Abby Caldwell is coming off a 10:05 in the steeplechase to win at Drake last weekend and is entered in Friday night's 1,500-meter run.
At the Trials of Miles on Saturday, it will be Mitchell Day, Jeffery Pedersen, Thomas Pollard and Gable Sieperda representing Iowa State at the University of Saint Mary's track. Sieperda is entered in the steeplechase for the first time since his break-through 8:51 at the Virginia Challenge two weeks ago.
