AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field team hosts the ISU Holiday Invitational for the first home meet of the season Friday, Dec. 9 through Saturday, Dec. 10. The meet begins with field events Friday at noon followed by multi-events at 1 p.m. Saturday action includes running events beginning at 11 a.m. and field events at 1 p.m.
Teams that will be competing in the Lied Recreation Athletic Center include Drake, UNI and Indian Hills Community College in addition to Iowa State.

The season kicked off last week with the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, where Chad Johnson posted the third-fastest 5,000-meter run time in Iowa State history with 13:33.15. The senior knocked off 24.1 seconds from his previous personal best to move from No. 9 to No. 3 on the ISU all-time performance list. The time currently ranks as the 15th-fastest in NCAA Division I this season.
Following the ISU Holiday Invite, track and field season resumes Jan. 13-14 in Lincoln, Neb. with the Graduate Classic.
