Cyclones Finish 11th at the Fighting Irish Classic

AMES, Iowa – Sophomore, Luke Gutschewski, led the Iowa State men's golf team to an 11th place finish at the Fighting Irish Classic in South Bend, Ind. The team carded rounds of 283, 275 and 292 for an 850 three-round tally.

Gutschewski concluded his weekend with a 16th place finish in the medalist race. The sophomore recorded 11 birdies and finished with a 207 (70, 66, 71) three-round total.

Coming in second on the team was freshman, Paul Beauvy. After carding rounds of 70, 66 and 74, Beauvy placed in a tie for 26th.

Kyo Morishita began his career as a Cyclone with an opening round 68. The freshman followed it up with back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish in a tie for 48th place.

Senior, Nate Vance, came in with a 217 (75, 69, 73) tally to finish in a tie for 54th place. Lukas Pany rounded out the Cyclones top-five, finishing in a tie for 83rd.

Next up on the Cyclones schedule is the Gopher Invitational, held in Independence, Minn. The first 36-holes will be played on Sept. 11, with the final 18-holes on the 12th.
