AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf team opens the season Tuesday at the Iowa Fall Classic.Â

The Course:Â Spanning 7,432 yards, Blue Top Ridge was named the top golf course in the state of Iowa in 2022 by IowaGolf.com. Designed by Rees Jones, who constructed over 100 courses in the United States, including seven U.S. Open venues, five PGA courses and three Ryder Cup sites. The holes sit on the floodplain of the Iowa River with several water hazards being in play. The par-72 course is located 15 miles south of Iowa City in Riverside, Iowa.

-Iowa State returns three golfers (Beauvy, Gutschewski and Lukas Pany) that all played 34 rounds last year, while May played 22 rounds.
-Last season, Gutschewski became the fifth different Cyclone to advance to the NCAA Regionals as an individual under Cyclone Head Coach Andrew Tank. He became just the second sophomore in school history, joining Scott Fernandez, to qualify for the NCAA Regionals.
-Gutschewski finished in a tie for 23rd at the NCAA Norman Regional. Gutschewski turned in a three-round score of 213, shooting a 70-72-71 to go three-under par for the tournament. He finished third among players competing individually.
-A trio of Cyclones were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in Gutschewski, Pany and Nate Vance.
-Two single-season scoring records were broken last year, as Gutschewski broke the single-season scoring average and Beauvy had the best average by a freshman in school history. Gutschewski shot a 70.78, while Beauvy had an average of 71.94.
-Gutschewski concluded the regular season ranked No. 162 according to Golfweek. He led the Cyclones with 129 birdies on the season.
-On the Cyclones' all-time career stroke average list, Gutschewski sits in second with a 71.98 scoring average.
