AMES, Iowa – Iowa State returns to action at the Razorback Invitational hosted by Arkansas Jan. 27-28. The Cyclones will meet an elite field of competition at the Randal Tyson Track Center with nine men's and nine women's teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top-25 this week.
Friday events begin at 11:45 a.m. with multi-events while field events begin at 3 p.m. and running events at 6 p.m. Saturday events begin with the 3,000-meter run at 9:10 a.m. Events will be streamed on SEC Network+ beginning with running events at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Teams Iowa State will meet include Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, LSU, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Stanford, Texas A&M and USC.
The Iowa State men are ranked at No. 9 in the first week of the USTFCCCA Indoor National Rankings, the highest ranking since 2020. The ranking comes after setting a number of some of the best marks across the nation, including the third-ranked 800-meter run time by Darius Kipyego (1:47.66) and fifth-ranked weight throw mark by Cam Jones (72-11 1/4). ISU owns three of the top-five 800-meter run times in NCAA Division I, ran by Kipyego, Cebastian Gentil and Peter Smith.
LAST TIME OUT – Cyclone Open
ISU recorded 10 all-time program performances or improvements to standings. Five men threw for weight throw personal records as three went down as all-time performances. Cam Jones now owns the school record while Garret Wagner (62-8 1/2) now ranks sixth and Zach Verzani (60-8 1/2) ranks 10th. The mile saw seven women and four men run personal record times. The men were led by Nehemia Too timing in an under four-minute mile to tie the third-fastest time in ISU history with 3:59.60.
